AI Inbox Assistants Compared: Gemini, Copilot, Apple Intelligence and YAFOY Insight
Gmail's Gemini, Outlook's Copilot, Apple Intelligence and YAFOY Insight all promise to tell you what matters. What each one covers, what it costs, and who it suits.

Every big tech company now promises the same thing: let AI read your messages, and it'll tell you what matters.
Gmail summarizes threads. Outlook ranks your inbox. Your iPhone summarizes notifications. Even WhatsApp can sum up a busy chat. So why would anyone need another AI assistant?
The answer is in one word: coverage. Each assistant sees a different slice of your messages. Here's what each one actually reads, and which slice matters to you.
Gemini in Gmail: smart about Gmail
Google has built Gemini deeply into Gmail. Thread summaries, "Help me write" and suggested replies are now available to free users in several languages, on the web, Android and iPhone. More advanced features, like asking questions across your inbox and Gmail's AI Inbox with priorities, require a paid Google AI or Workspace plan, and some started in the US only.
Covers: your Gmail. Doesn't cover: Outlook, Slack, Teams, WhatsApp or texts.
Copilot in Outlook: smart about Outlook
Microsoft's Copilot can summarize email threads in Outlook on Windows, Mac, web, Android and iPhone, and "Prioritize my inbox" marks incoming mail as high, normal or low priority with a short reason. Copilot in Outlook is included in Microsoft 365 Personal and Family plans, and in business Copilot plans, with some features rolling out gradually.
Covers: your Outlook email. Doesn't cover: other email accounts' context, Slack, WhatsApp or texts.
Apple Intelligence: smart about your iPhone's notifications
On supported devices (iPhone 15 Pro and newer models, and Macs and iPads with Apple silicon), Apple Intelligence can summarize and prioritize notifications, and Mail on iPhone sorts messages into categories with a Primary view and thread summaries. Much of the processing happens on the device. Apple paused summaries for news apps in early 2025 after inaccurate headlines, then brought them back with clearer labels.
Covers: notifications and Apple Mail on supported Apple devices. Doesn't cover: Android, or detailed priorities across conversations.
Meta AI in WhatsApp: smart about one chat
WhatsApp's optional Message Summaries use Meta AI to sum up unread messages in a single chat, using a privacy system Meta calls Private Processing. It launched in the US in English, and summaries across several chats were still in testing.
Covers: one WhatsApp chat at a time. Doesn't cover: anything outside WhatsApp.
YAFOY Insight: across your apps
Insight takes a different approach. YAFOY first brings your messages into one inbox: Gmail, Outlook, Teams and Slack on desktop browsers, Android and iPhone, plus WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, texts and more on Android. Then, up to three times a day, Insight reads short excerpts of your recent conversations across all of them and writes one briefing: what changed, what needs a reply, what's due, and what can wait, each linked to its conversation.
Before anything goes to the AI model (Google Gemini, through our platform provider), YAFOY masks email addresses and phone numbers and leaves out banking and one-time-code messages; Signal is excluded by default. That redaction is partial, and we say so. See how Insight works →
Covers: connected Gmail, Outlook, Slack and Teams on desktop and phones, plus supported personal chat apps on Android. Limits: desktop does not capture phone notifications or mirror your phone inbox; Teams requires an eligible work or school account and any required organization approval. The free plan allows one Insight a day.

Which should you use?
You don't have to pick one. If you live in Gmail, Gemini is excellent there. If you live in Outlook, so is Copilot. If you have a recent iPhone, notification summaries come free. Where they all stop is at the edge of their own app.
If your day is spread across Gmail, Outlook, Teams, Slack and WhatsApp, and the question you need answered is "what needs me first, across all of it?", that's the gap Insight is built for.

A desktop briefing, not another email-only assistant
At your desk, YAFOY brings connected Gmail, Outlook, Slack and Teams into the same browser experience. Start with Insight, then use Inbox search and the conversation pane to check the source and reply. Insight only considers recent conversations available on that device; it does not read a synced copy of your phone inbox.
Frequently asked questions
For Gmail users, Gemini in Gmail; for Outlook users, Copilot. For a summary across email and chat apps together, YAFOY Insight.
Most built-in assistants only cover their own app. YAFOY's Insight summarizes conversations across connected email, work chat and, on Android, chat apps.
It depends. Apple Intelligence does much of its processing on the device. Gemini, Copilot and YAFOY Insight use cloud AI models.
